Storing and Reheating Korean Chicken

Leftover chicken can make a useful second meal, but it should be cooled promptly and reheated with the method that suits its coating or sauce.

Safety source: Health Canada lists 74°C (165°F) for poultry pieces and reheated leftovers. See the sources page.

Refrigerate promptly

Place leftovers in shallow containers and refrigerate within two hours. Do not keep a large warm pile sealed on the counter.

Separate when possible

Store sauce, pickles, slaw, and chicken separately. This preserves texture and prevents cold sides from warming during reheating.

Use dry heat for crisp food

An oven or air fryer can restore some crispness. A microwave is faster but softens crust. Follow appliance instructions and avoid overheating small pieces.

Reheat thoroughly

Health Canada advises reheating leftovers to 74°C. Check the thickest pieces and discard leftovers with questionable storage history.

Quick checklist

  • Cool in shallow containers
  • Refrigerate within two hours
  • Separate wet sides
  • Use dry heat for crispness
